Empowering the UK’s first open-access makerspace with a brand they can build upon.

The opportunity:
BLOQS is more than a project. It’s where its founders slept, worked, ate, schemed and dreamed. It’s where their necessity to create a space for craft meets their genuine will to serve humanity.
While never ceasing their purity of spirit, over the years and as the organisation expanded, the internal and external understanding of BLOQS became fragmented, diluted and overly complex.
Our impact:
The Mustard team could clearly see the dedication, nerve and ingenuity that made up the bones of BLOQS, and saw that what the organisation needed was a system – to understand their products and services, their audiences, and their purpose – and empower them with the tools to connect and convert.
Our process began with an intense immersion into the BLOQS world for one week at their impressive site in North-East London – where we held workshops with stakeholders, and interviewed individuals from every facet of the organisation: from staffers to one-man-band members and start-up leaders.
From here, we articulated the business strategy as we defined and created systems for the vast audiences and products/services and established their positioning in the marketplace; developed their purpose and used this to anchor their brand through the branding process; and presented a campaign pathway for launching their new brand into market.
